News and Events

The Bay Area Breast Cancer and the Environment Research Center holds public meetings to inform the public of our research and to bring the community’s perspective back to the research projects. These meetings are planned and organized by the center’s Community Outreach and Translation Core.

Our last public meeting, a Community Forum featuring Dr. Linda Birnbaum, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), was held on November 18, 2009, at Cavallo Point in Sausalito, CA. Additionall, we hosted BCERC’s 6th annual Early Environmental Exposures Meeting, November 19-20, 2009, also held at Cavallo Point.

In addition to our public meetings, the COTC, in conjunction with the CYGNET project team, organizes Tea Talks for the girls and their parents participating in the CYGNET study. These Tea Talks provide the girls with an opportunity to meet other girls in the study and allow the parents to ask questions of the researchers. For information on the next scheduled Tea Talk, please contact the CYGNET study staff at (510) 891-3884.
