This is the first scientific meeting of the network of centers that form the Breast Cancer and Environment Research Centers sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Cancer Institute. As the first of a series of scientific meetings on this topic, this conference will set the groundwork for the research finding expected to emerge over time from these centers of excellence. Sessions will cover known environmental risk factors for breast cancer, normal breast development, breast carcinogenesis, and cancer communications. The conference will give attendees a thorough understanding of the scientific basis for exploration and action in breast cancer and the environment. It will be of interest to cancer research and environmental scientists, public health professionals, breast cancer and environment advocates, and community members concerned about the health effects of their environment. Advocates and community members have been actively involved in the planning process. While the conference will highlight the best quality scientific research possible, it will also incorporate sessions prior to the conference and after each plenary session to translate findings for a non-scientific audience and to promote discussion with the advocate community. Meeting EvaluationWe are interested in receiving your feedback on the Princeton meeting, which will be used to assist us with the planning for the 2005 meeting. To that end, please complete the evaluation form and send it to Dr. Kami Silk in one of the following three ways: 1. Mail it to Kami Silk, Department of Communication, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824. 2. Fax it to Kami Silk at 517.432.1192 3. Email it to [email protected]. Thank you. |
