Organization
BCERC is comprised of four member centers, Michigan State University, University of California-San Francisco, University of Cincinnati, and Fox Chase Cancer Center. Each center has their own epidemiology, biology, and Community Outreach and Translation Core (COTC) that address center-specific aims, with the exception of Michigan State, which has biology and COTC groups only. Each center also collaborates with other universities and research and advocacy organizations. Partnering institutions include the University of Alabama, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, Zero Breast Cancer, etc. While each of the individual centers has its own center-specific aims, the BCERC project as a whole also has overarching aims. The epidemiology, biology, and COTC groups of each center team up to form cross-center working groups in their specific areas, biology, epidemiology, and COTC. Advocates and scientists collaborate and interact throughout this project. See BCERC organizational chart (pdf will open in new window).
Network Management
The network is governed by a Steering Committee comprised of the Director and a member of the COTC from each Research Center with participation from NCI and NIEHS Program staff. The Steering Committee sets priorities for the Centers program and the collaborative projects.
The project receives input from an outside advisory group that reports to the Executive Secretary of the National Advisory Environmental Science Council.
